A sunny day in San Francisco

Liv Marie in the muni on her way to eat her favorite porridge (risengrynsgrøt) and wafles in the norwegian church of San Francisco

Cathy is looking forward to trying the talked about porridge and wafles

Cathy was intrigued by the heart shaped wafles. We explained that this was the normal way of serving wafles in Norway.

I also liked it, and couldn't eat it fast enough

The church looks like norway, but with a San Francisco view

So we took a couple of pictures.
Notice Golden Gate Bridge in the background

Afterwards we did a little shopping in Market street, followed by a dinner at the cheesecake factory.

And then an unexpected trip to a ballet.
Followed by some ballet poses

And then we drove home.. I had to sit still in this photo..........

Very still......

At the end..

We were returning back home to schoolwork and reality in Berkeley, but went home with a lot of good memories, and a couple of cowboy hats
We also stopped at the San Francisco Airport so that Howard could change and arrive at home looking like a cowboy
Thanks for the trip guys!

Gaylord hotel and Grand Ole Opry

I was happy to find ready pealed grapefruit in a cup and made Gaute take a picture of my happiness, when I received a text message from Howard: "this place is amazing!". He was picking up our Grand Ole Opry tickets, and had stopped by the Gaylord hotel. So me and Gaute rushed over to the Gaylord hotel to find Howard
Like this

He built his own burgerAnd we walked around
Afterwards we went to the Grand Ole Opry
A live country radio show :)

Nashville, Tennessee

Listening to live country music in Nashville

Howard (Håvard) was hungry......
It is a whole rack of ribs along with hushpuppies and coleslaw.

Gaute is trying to adapt to the culture, but clearly there is a moustache missing..

The flag of the confederate states of America

We dropped by a cowboy shop on our way to Nashville

The drive from Memphis to Nashville, it looks a lot like Norway.

An hour later and closer to Nashville it started to rain, as well as heavy thunder and lightning. I was a little freaked out.

Graceland

We went to see Graceland, Elvis's home in Memphis
The picture below is from the Elvis's car collection museum, and they were watching clips of films where Elvis's cars were featured

We had lunch in a diner

This is from the parking lot of Graceland, our rental car is parked near by these.

We also went to see the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, which is located at the hotel where MLK got shot. The museum is enormous, so plan to spend some hours there if you have the chance. We were running around in it at the end, they were closing..

New Orleans

Håvard striking a pose in the streets of New Orleans

I cant seem to remember the name of this pastry. It was difficult to eat because of all the icing sugar, esp since I was laughing so much.

Houses along the river. During Hurricane Katrina the water level was above the roof.

Swamp tour to see alligators, but it was too cold, and they didnt appear. We did see snakes, wild pigs, river rats/rabbits and a lot of birds.

Whiskey tree.

Gaute liked the statue of Andrew Jackson, and somehow a white ball appeared next to him.

Se på han som sover

Monsterjam and international dinner party

We sat in the nosebleed section

Hot dog and beer

Shannon's "Get well soon" cake for Derrick who operated his knee

Pablo arranged a dinner party, a potluck where everyone had to make bring something from their own country. I made Pizza.

And Pablo made a large tortilla
